When to visit Orpheus Island

This part of Queensland is warm year round so there is no reason not to travel to Orpheus Island in the cooler winter months. Cyclone season can be a little riskier but you can also pick up some great accommodation deals at this time of year so don’t rule out the months from November to March.

Orpheus Island pre-arrival questionnaire

Accommodation at Orpheus Island Lodge includes meals plus complimentary wines, beers and soft drinks, so take your time filling out the pre-arrival questionnaire. If you only drink chardonnay, for example, mention this on the form and the fridge in your room will ‘magically’ only be stocked with this on arrival. Special dining requests can be accommodated too, whether you have food allergies or want something special like a romantic dinner for two on the jetty.

Orpheus Island transfers

Rates at Orpheus Island Lodge don’t include return helicopter transfers from either Townsville ($580) or Cairns ($1,410) per person. Unfortunately there is no cheaper option such as a boat transfer available so make sure you allow for this extra cost in your holiday budget. If you are lucky, you can avoid the cost of transfers by booking a special deal which includes them for free.

Orpheus Island activities

The activities staff at Orpheus Island Lodge put on one complimentary nature based activity for guests each day. If you are only staying for a short time and have your heart set on a particular activity such as a snorkelling trip, you can request it on your pre-arrival form. While this can’t be guaranteed, the activities staff take guests’ requests into consideration.

Orpheus Island welcomes children

Orpheus Island Resort used to be the destination of choice for wealthy couples, honeymooners and rock stars. However, thanks to a change of ownership, the island’s only resort now welcomes guests of all ages who come here to revel in the laid-back-yet-luxe island vibe.
