Hervey Bay is home to over 50,000 residents and has one of the fastest growing populations in Australia. It is especially popular with retirees who can take full advantage of the beautiful sandy beaches not to mention the fine boating and fishing. Hervey Bay is an easy 3½ hours drive north of Brisbane and a popular stopping off point for visitors to Fraser Island which is just 45 minutes away. A hire car is a necessity as the town of Hervey Bay spreads in all directions, making it virtually impossible to navigate on foot.
