Nirjhara
Surrounded by forests and rice paddies, Nirjhara is located a few minutes away from the picturesque Tanah Lot temple in the district of Tabanan. This contemporary resort mixes modern style with a Balinese flavour and has an eco-focus with materials such as recycled wood and natural locally-sourced stones featuring around the resort. Raffles Bali
Raffles Bali is located on the southern edge of Jimbaran beach and is an all-villa resort with views across Jimbaran Bay. This brand-name hotel is an enclave of 5-star style with a modern beach/Balinese vibe. This resort is very much less is more and very boutique with only 35 villas, 2 restaurants, and a spa. But what Raffles lacks in size it more than makes up for in personal service and style. If you’re after a boutique stay and have deep pockets, this hotel is hard to beat.

InterContinental Bali Resort
The InterContinental Bali Resort may not be the newest resort in Bali but it has just undergone a multi-million dollar upgrade that makes it more than worthy of a stay. The Club InterContinental facilities like the club lounge rooms and lounge area that have been totally refurbished and given a fresh and modern look. Club guests can also access an upgraded new pool area and accompanying bar. You also have a choice between a regular, Club or Singaraja room. This classic Bali resort remains one of our favourites and is great whether you are visiting as a couple or staying at the InterContinental Bali Resort with kids.

The Apurva Kempinski Bali
The Apurva Kempinski Bali is anything but subtle with this glitzy five-star hotel presenting itself as a majestic open-air theatre resort that styles itself as the embodiment of Indonesian elegance. There are 475 rooms, suites, and villas and 60 per cent of these have their own private plunge pool. There are also multiple dining and bars with the most notable being the aquarium-styled Koral Restaurant with fish that swim by your table. For sheer wow factor, this is a Bali hotel not to be missed.

Jumana Bali Ungasan by Hilton
The Jumana Bali used to be a Banyan Tree and still retains the same air of luxury and style but at a much more affordable room rate these days. All of the rooms at this resort have private pools and many have ocean views (although some of these are obstructed). With ocean view restaurants and multiple bars there are lots of choices for where to eat and drink and the resort’s signature pool with floating lounges is the stuff of holiday dreams.

Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay
One of the area’s original hotels, Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay, is famous for being the world’s first large scale luxury beach resort to feature plunge pools in every guest room. The Four Seasons at Jimbaran Bay has undergone a major renovation of its villas, adding features such as a 50 percent bigger bedroom combined with a new indoor living area featuring double sliding doors to the garden and pool, offering both air-conditioned and outdoor living spaces. Trust me, you won’t want to leave this luxury hotel as it is large but never crowded with a combination of stunning gardens, pools, and restaurants plus amazing views over Jimbaran Bay.

Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape
Buahan, A Banyan Tree Escape is a true jungle retreat that offers guests a unique and immersive experience in the heart of Bali. Located 40 minutes’ drive from Ubud, this resort is a standalone luxury experience that puts you into the Balinese jungle, albeit with a very luxurious touch. With only 16 villas, all of which have private pools and unobstructed views over Bali’s seven peaks, the resort is a boutique property that entices guests to escape the everyday. Dining is a bit different with only vegan/vegetarian offerings available making it ideal for those who follow a plant-based diet.

Andaz Bali
