Planning a romantic Bali honeymoon can be exciting but also stressful. How will you get that memorable honeymoon hotel you’re both dreaming of at a price you can afford? The good news is Bali is a popular spot for honeymoons with an enticing selection of affordable romantic Bali hotels and luxury accommodation to suit every type of traveller. However, this also comes with a downside.

With such a huge amount of romantic villas and honeymoon hotels on offer, deciding which one to book can be stressful. Which Bali honeymoon hotel should you choose for your special once in a lifetime celebration? To make your decision easier, you need to follow some simple guidelines, focussing firstly on quality. Does the hotel or villa have a good reputation on, say, TripAdvisor? Secondly, location. Is the Bali hotel or villa in the heart of the action or remote? This depends on what you are after with your honeymoon, be it total privacy or a place with things to do and explore.

Thirdly, what about amenities? Does the hotel or Bali villa have all the things you want, such as on-site restaurants, a guest activities program, a luxurious spa, and free Wi-Fi. Lastly, it’s about timing. While this will mostly come down to your wedding date, be careful with timing your trip to Bali. Delaying your honeymoon by a month or two could be worth considering. Peak summertime in December and January is very hot, humid and busy (and therefore expensive). June and July is peak season as it’s during the school holidays, with lots of young kids and high room rates.

The best time to visit Bali is May and September as this time is cheaper, the weather is cooler and there is little rain. You can often pick up some excellent deals in these months with lots of added extras. With all these guidelines in mind here is our selection of the best honeymoon hotels in Bali, from pool villas that will melt your credit card to beautiful yet affordable hotels that will leave you with money to spare for daily massages, cocktails and that must have ‘I love Bali’ t-shirt.
1. Bulgari Resort Bali
Yes, I can smell the credit card burning too, and I’m just looking at the website. If you’re shopping for the most romantic hotel in Bali and you have a big budget, then the Bulgari Resort Bali is it. Combine your luxury villa with a private pool with in-room amenities that are too long to list, a Michelin star chef at the restaurant and views to die for, and you have the honeymoon hotel of a lifetime.

This is designer resort perched on a clifftop will have your phone’s memory card full of Instagram photos in minutes. Put simply, Bulgari Resort Bali is a fantastic place with all you could wish for in a honeymoon hotel. The only downsides are the price-tag and, possibly, the isolation. But maybe not. After I checked in, I had no desire to leave the luxurious surrounds of the resort until it was time to check out.
2. The Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay
This is another ‘don’t look at the price tag’ hotel. Saying that, The Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay has everything you need in a honeymoon hotel and more. Trust me, you won’t want to leave here either. Like Bulgari, this is an all villa destination hotel with private plunge pools in every villa and an extensive list of amenities and activities to keep you both content and entertained. The Four Seasons at Jimbaran Bay is large but not crowded with a combination of stunning gardens, pools, and restaurants plus amazing views over Jimbaran Bay.

Another plus side is its location close to Jimbaran Beach and the charming local village which is perfect for exploring and embracing the local culture only a stroll away from your villa. The food options here are also a big draw card for honeymooners with the Taman Wantilan open kitchen restaurant offering multiple dining choices with ultra-high quality. If you really want to go all out, don’t miss the romantic private dining experience you can do here, with dinner served at a private table for two in a gazebo overlooking the waves.
3. Inaya Putri Bali
Inaya Putri Bali is the perfect resort for honeymooners whose love of the finer things in life is larger than their honeymoon budget. When we checked into this hotel for four nights, we stayed in a One Bedroom Suite Ocean View and also a One Bedroom Villa for a comparison between the two different room types. Both were great in there own way with loads of added extras such as club benefits which included daily afternoon tea, daily evening cocktails and wine, and complimentary tea and coffee all day. Amenities were also very good with a spa, restaurants and large pools and, even better, the price is very affordable. This is the place for multiple massages and cocktails by the pool.

Our personal choice at this hotel is the One Bedroom Suite Ocean View with a high floor. This room is huge at 90 square meters and has fantastic ocean views, king bed, and a tub by the window. The One Bedroom Villa was also lovely but the pool is shared which limits the romance factor a bit. Go for the honeymoon package and you’ll get a huge list of added extras like dining, massages and discounted treats.
4. Aria Villas Ubud
This boutique, modern all-villa Ubud property is located in the heart of Ubud but secluded and quiet and, best of all, a bargain. Aria Villas Ubud has the magic formula of private jungle views and easy access to that amazing I heart Bali t-shirt you secretly know you really, really want, with the centre of Ubud in easy walking distance. A big plus here is amazing Indonesian cuisine which comes via well priced room service. Daily breakfast served to your villa each morning is included in the room rate. After lazing by your private pool, you can head down the road to explore the galleries, restaurants, bars, and markets only a 5-minute stroll from your villa. This is the perfect secret retreat in Ubud and best of all, an affordable treat for honeymooners whose love for each other is larger than their holiday budget.

5. Novotel Bali Benoa
I know the Novotel brand possibly doesn’t conjure images of stylish romantic rooms but here at the Novotel Bali Benoa, it should. Provided you book smart, that is. The normal rooms here are very nice but they’re not honeymoon quality. However, book a one-bedroom pool villa, and your dreams of romance are answered. Combine traditional Balinese design with modern comfort in a huge villa with loads of added romantic style, and you have an excellent honeymoon abode.

Each room has its own private garden, pool, waterfall, a terrace, outdoor lounge, and a unique bathroom with separate bath and rain shower. The onsite amenities are of a high standard with excellent yet affordable restaurants, several pools and a very affordable spa plus some exceptional dining on the beach. Book a table on the sand for a romantic Balinese dinner at Cocos Beach Restaurant and Bar for excellent Indonesian and Western dishes at bargain Bali prices.
6. Wyndham Tamansari Jivva Resort
Don’t even bother looking at the different room categories at this resort, you need to a Private Pool Villa with a private plunge pool and views over a rice paddy field. The Wyndham Tamansari Jivva Resort is a reasonably new hotel located on the eastern shores of Bali and a 45-minute drive from the airport and a 20 minute drive to Ubud for a day trip. The resort is right on the beach and the amenities are excellent with multiple restaurants and one of the best and most affordable spas we’ve come across during our many visits to Bali. On weekends a DJ plays chillout tracks and there are happy hours at the bars every afternoon. This hotel is a little isolated but it has a price point that easily makes up for this slight downside.

7. The Slow
Imaging you’re visiting an art gallery cum designer home and you have The Slow. This place is definitely outside the box when it comes to honeymoon accommodation but it is Oh So Cool. These ultra-modern hipster villas have all you could ask for in a cool chillout pad in Bali. Add a great destination restaurant and bar, and you have a great place to hang out on a honeymoon. Amenities are on the simple side with just one restaurant and bar, but you’re based in Canggu, a very cool area of Bali. This is the latest area for Bali hipsters to hang and the place to find the best dining and local hot spots. Spas and the beach are not far and The Slow certainly ticks the box for value. And, yes, more ‘I Love Bali’ t-shirts are begging for you to buy them just down the road from this hotel.

8. The Damai
The Damai is off the beaten path in Bali and located away from the touristy hotels and busy beaches. It has scored high praise as an amazing honeymoon hideout and is located in Lovina in sleepy northern Bali. The Damai has 14 villas ranging from garden villas right up to one master pool villa, all of which are traditionally Balinese in style. Book the pool villa and enjoy the view from the pool or veranda. With an award-winning restaurant and spa on-site, the must-haves for a good honeymoon are sorted. Prices are reasonable and make for an affordable romantic stay. The only downside is the location a few hours drive from Denpasar and the airport. However, if you’re after secluded bliss, this is definitely the place to step back in time to the Bali of old.

9. Villa Sidemen Bali
A volcano view is something you don’t see every day and sometimes not even here if the clouds are in the way. But with a clear sky, the view from Villa Sidemen Bali is breathtaking as you watch Gunung Agung (Bali’s holy mountain) from your infinity pool. Local royalty and rock stars have stayed in this beautiful Balinese villa filled with ornate carvings and artwork. However, it’s more laid back than fancy. Villa Sidemen Bali is located in the Sidemen province, a couple of hours from Denpasar, and the amenities are basic with air conditioning, a pool and terrace for the views. Dining is available from the villa kitchen by arrangement during your stay. The location is tranquil and secluded so remember to bring lots of drinks and nibbles for snacks.
10. Mick’s Place
Located in Uluwatu, Mick’s Place is a cool surfer hangout situated on the cliff at Bingin Beach with 180° views of the Indian Ocean and some of Indonesia’s best waves. Mick’s Place Honeymoon Bungalow is the choice of abodes here and has some very cool features such as a round bed, private infinity pool, outdoor shower and a bathtub for two. If you can pull yourself away from the view, you can explore the local area for restaurants and spas, and head to the mini-mart for all things self-catering. You can also book a private spa therapist or yoga instructor and enjoy the view from your villa while you indulge in some relaxation. Mick’s Place is about enjoying an intimate bungalow stay with a breathtaking view. Think cocktails by the pool and plenty of sunsets and romantic photos to Instagram.
